Samson signs two-way contract with Lightning
The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed forward Jerome Samson to a one-year, two-way contract

Free agent forward Jerome Samson signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday. Financial terms were not released.

Samson, 26, had 27 goals, including 11 on the power play, and 56 points in 68 games with the St. John's Ice Caps of the American Hockey League last season. He had three goals and six points in 17 AHL playoff games to help St. John's reach the Calder Cup Final.

He last played in the NHL in 2011-12, with five points in 16 games with the Carolina Hurricanes.

In 46 NHL games, all with Carolina, the 6-foot, 195-pound right wing has two goals and seven assists.

Quote of the Day

I spent a long summer thinking about that playoff series and what could have been. [The Blackhawks] ended up being the Stanley Cup champions, so we know we lost to a very good team. It's tough to know how close we were, and it motivates us for this year.
