Kamenev will return to Russia after Predators camp
Nashville Predators prospect Vladislav Kamenev will play at home in the Kontinental Hockey League this season, rather than with the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League

Nashville Predators prospect Vladislav Kamenev, a participant in development camp this week at Bridgestone Arena, will return to his country to fulfill contract obligations with Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Kontinental Hockey League.

Rostyslav Saglo, who serves as Kamenev's agent in the KHL, confirmed the news for NHL.com via email.

"We are very thankful to Metallurg Magnitogorsk organization for allowing Vlad to participate in Nashville's development camp, but right after it's over my client is coming back home to fulfill his contract obligations with his KHL club first, and then definitely fight for a roster spot in Nashville," Saglo wrote.

Kamenev became the first Russian drafted by the Predators in 10 years when he was chosen in the second round (No. 42) of the 2014 NHL Draft.

Earlier this month, the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League selected Kamenev with the second pick of the Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.

Kamenev had one goal in 16 games with Magnitogorsk last season. The 6-foot-2, 203-pound left wing was the captain of Russia's team at the 2014 IIHF World Under-18 Championship and had two goals and five assists in seven games.

"Vladislav is a good, big, powerful forward who has very good skills," Nashville European scout Martin Bakula told the Predators website. "He is very good in tight situations where he uses his body and his long reach to hold off opponents. He's got a very good set of skills to create scoring chances, a very good shot, and he's an offensive threat every time he’s on the ice."
