Forward Cody Almond signed a one-year contract with the Minnesota Wild, the team announced Wednesday. The Pioneer Press reports it is worth $550,000.
Almond, 24, had 34 points (18 goals), a plus-12 rating and 75 penalty minutes in 44 games with Geneve-Servette in the Swiss League last season.
The 6-foot-2, 217-pound native of Calgary was selected by Minnesota in the fifth round (No. 140) of the 2007 NHL Draft.
He played in 25 NHL games with the Wild in parts of three seasons (2009-12) and scored two goals.
Almond had 67 points (29 goals) and 292 PIM in 159 games with the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League from 2009-12.
