The 6-foot-2, 217-pound native of Calgary was selected by Minnesota in the fifth round (No. 140) of the 2007 NHL Draft.

He played in 25 NHL games with the Wild in parts of three seasons (2009-12) and scored two goals.

Almond had 67 points (29 goals) and 292 PIM in 159 games with the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League from 2009-12.

Quote of the Day

I kept refreshing the page on the NHL website after the second round and I was shocked he lasted that long. I'm sure the Coyotes were pretty happy to get him. He's such a good player and he plays big in big games.
