Strachan signs one-year contract with Sabres
The Buffalo Sabres have signed defensman Tyson Strachan to a one-year contract

The Buffalo Sabres on Thursday signed defenseman Tyson Strachan to a one-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Strachan, 29, had two assists in 18 games last season with the Washington Capitals. He spent most of the season with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, where he had four goals and 19 points in 60 games.

A fifth-round pick (No. 137) of the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2003 NHL Draft, Strachan has one goal and 15 points in 138 NHL games with the St. Louis Blues, Florida Panthers and Capitals. He has one assist in two Stanley Cup Playoff games, with the Panthers in 2012.
