Restricted free-agent forward Jason Akeson signed a one-year, two-way contract to remain with the Philadelphia Flyers. Financial terms were not released.

Akeson had an assist in his only regular-season game in 2013-14 and had two goals and an assist in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games.

He had 64 points in 70 games with the Flyers' American Hockey League affiliate, the third straight season he's led the Phathoms in scoring.

Quote of the Day

I definitely think going back down helped me, I had a lot of confidence down there, I played a lot of minutes and I think that helped me a lot. With the 37 games up here, that gave me experience as well. I know what it takes to play in the NHL and now it's time for me to show that I'm capable of being a full-time NHL player.
