The Minnesota Wild on Wednesday signed forward Joel Rechlicz to a one-year, two-way contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Rechlicz, 27, had a goal and an assist along with 87 penalty minutes in 25 games last season for the Hershey Bears, the Washington Capitals' American Hockey League affiliate.

Not known for his finesse, Rechlicz gained notoriety in a preseason game for the Capitals against the Philadelphia Flyers when he was used in a shootout and scored the decisive goal on a nifty backhander.

Rechlicz has one assist and 105 penalty minutes in 26 NHL games with the New York Islanders and Capitals.
