Stars bring back veteran centre Vernon Fiddler on 2-year contract worth $2.5 million

DALLAS - The Dallas Stars re-signed centre Vernon Fiddler to a two-year contract Wednesday.

Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

The 34-year-old Fiddler had six goals and 17 assists in 76 games last season. He has 77 goals and 129 assists in 656 games in 11 seasons with Nashville, Phoenix and Dallas.

Quote of the Day

The groove of being behind a bench is going to be interesting at first, but thank God we have a few exhibition games to get rid of those cobwebs. Overall the excitement of it all and the freshness and coming back refreshed, all those things are going to be assets. If [the players] come ready to give their best effort in practice and games, good things are going to happen. I'm always looking for results. It's not always on the scoreboard. It's winning and building something.
