Flyers re-sign G Ray Emery, Steve Mason's backup, with a 1-year deal and prospect G Rob Zepp

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Flyers have re-signed backup goaltender Ray Emery with a one-year contract.

The Flyers made the move Tuesday on the first day of free agency. They also signed minor league goalie Rob Zepp to a two-way, one-year deal.

Emery was 9-12-2 with two shutouts and a 2.96 goals-against average last season as Steve Mason's backup.

He is 135-75-21 in his career with Ottawa, Anaheim, Chicago and two stints with the Flyers.

Quote of the Day

He's, believe it or not, actually one of my favorite guys, and I've ended up trading him twice. I appreciate what he's done. He was one year away from being an unrestricted free agent, and I felt with this opportunity, that it was a chance that we were able to get somebody for him in Nick Bonino and Adam Clendening.
