Defenseman Barberio re-signs with Lightning
The Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday re-signed defenseman Mark Barberio to a one-year, one-way contract.

The Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday re-signed defenseman Mark Barberio to a one-year, one-way contract. No financial terms were disclosed.

Barberio, 24, played in 49 games for the Lightning during the 2013-14 regular season, scoring five goals finishing with 10 points and 28 penalty minutes. He was tied for fourth in the NHL among rookie defensemen with a plus-10 rating. He was scoreless in two Stanley Cup Playoff games.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound defenseman has skated in 51 NHL games, all with the Lightning, since making his debut on April 9, 2013. Barberio was selected by the Lightning in the sixth round (No. 152) at the 2008 NHL Draft.
