Blackhawks extend contracts of Morin, Smith, Raanta
The Chicago Blackhawks on Friday agreed to terms with forwards Jeremy Morin and Ben Smith and goaltender Antti Raanta on two-year contract extensions.

The Chicago Blackhawks on Friday agreed to terms with forwards Jeremy Morin and Ben Smith and goaltender Antti Raanta each on a two-year contract extension.

Smith's contract has an average annual value of $1.5 million, Morin's contract has an AAV of $800,000, and Raanta's contract has an AAV of $750,000, according to ESPN's Pierre LeBrun.

All three were eligible to become a restricted free agent July 1.

Morin, 23, split last season between Chicago and its American Hockey League affiliate in Rockford. He scored five goals and 11 points in 24 regular-season games with the Blackhawks to go along with 24 goals and 47 points in 47 games with the IceHogs. Morin appeared in two games with the Blackhawks in the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Smith, 25, had 14 goals and 26 points in 75 regular-season games for the Blackhawks this season, with four goals and six points in 19 playoff games. He was a member of their 2013 Stanley Cup championship team.

Raanta, 25, went 13-5-4 in 25 games as a rookie with a 2.71 goals-against average and .897 save percentage. It was his first season in North America after going 54-33-21 with 10 shutouts over four seasons with Assat Pori in the Finnish elite league Liiga.
