Oilers sign centre Steve Pinizzotto to one-year deal

EDMONTON - The Edmonton Oilers have signed centre Steve Pinizzotto to a one-year contract.

Pinizzotto, 30, appeared in six games with the Oilers last season, recording two assists and 15 penalty minutes. The assists, his first two NHL points came in an April 12th game against the Vancouver Canucks.

The six-foot-one, 200-pound centre from Mississauga, Ont., split the 2013-14 season between the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage and Oklahoma City Barons, posting 25 points (12 goals, 13 assists) and 183 penalty minutes in 51 games.

Pinizzotto has appeared in 18 career NHL games with the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers.

Quote of the Day

He's, believe it or not, actually one of my favorite guys, and I've ended up trading him twice. I appreciate what he's done. He was one year away from being an unrestricted free agent, and I felt with this opportunity, that it was a chance that we were able to get somebody for him in Nick Bonino and Adam Clendening.
