Lewis: Team effort reason for victory in Game 3
After Game 2 on Saturday night, we stayed in Los Angeles instead of flying to the next city after the game like we would during the regular season.

Los Angeles Kings forward Trevor Lewis will be blogging for NHL.com throughout the Stanley Cup Final, offering his insight on what is happening inside the walls of his team's locker room and within the confines of the rink.

NEW YORK -- After Game 2 on Saturday night, we stayed in Los Angeles instead of flying to the next city after the game like we would during the regular season.

It was an early flight, and I think everyone was still pretty tired. There wasn't a lot of action on the plane. It was kind of a lot of sleeping and resting.

We got into New York at about 5 p.m. and went to the hotel, got some dinner and then everyone went to their rooms for more rest.

We came to the rink this morning ready to go. We had a meeting and did some video. We got on the ice and got out feet moving, got our hands going. The morning skate helps get my head right, and then I feel like everything is ready to go.

It is pretty crazy in this city. Driving to the game today, there might have been more people than I've ever seen. It's a cool city but we are here to play a couple of games, not enjoy the city. I took a nap this afternoon before the game.

We definitely got off to a better start tonight. I think that goal at the end of the first period was really big for us. We were able to carry that momentum over to the second.

I think right from the get-go you want to keep it simple in game like this. We wanted to get pucks in deep and get on top of them with the forecheck.

After we got up 2-0, we didn't want to sit back and let them keep coming at us. We wanted to keep going at them, because they have to take some risks.

It was a team effort. Jonathan Quick was awesome for us. He was our best player tonight. He was great on the penalty kill, and we have a whole team full of guys who can kill penalties so that keeps everyone fresh and ready to go.

It is a big momentum shift when you see guys pointing out there and blocking shots. Then whatever got through, Quick was there to stop it. It was a big effort from everyone, a good team win.

The fourth win is always the toughest in any playoff series. We came here to win Game 3, and now we've got to focus on Game 4. We have to come out and play Kings hockey like we did at the start tonight.

We know how they are going to come out Wednesday. It is Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final and their season is on the line. We just have to prepare like it is a normal game, and come to the rink ready to go.
