Rangers sign two to entry-level contracts
The New York Rangers agreed to terms with goaltender Mackenzie Skapski and defenseman Calle Andersson on entry-level contracts. Terms were not disclosed.

The New York Rangers on Monday agreed to terms with goaltender Mackenzie Skapski and defenseman Calle Andersson on entry-level contracts. Terms were not disclosed.

Skapski, 19, appeared in 53 games with the Kootenay Ice of the Western Hockey League this season, posting a 28-20-4 record along with a career-best 2.70 goals-against average and .916 save percentage. Skapski had a career-high 10-game winning streak from Jan. 12-Feb. 11, with a 1.80 GAA and .940 save percentage over the span.

Skapski, a sixth-round pick (No. 170) in the 2013 NHL Draft, is 74-52-7 in 141 career WHL games with a 2.81 GAA, .909 save percentage and eight shutouts. He also has a 4-8 record in 15 career playoff appearances with Kootenay.

Andersson, 20, split this season between Malmo in Allsvenskan, Malmo J20 in SuperElit, and IK Pantern in Division 1 in Sweden. He had two goals and 10 assists in 43 games with Malmo, and four goals and one assist in eight games with Malmo J20. He also had one goal in two games with IK Pantern.

Andersson, a fourth-round pick (No. 119) in 2012, has represented Sweden at numerous tournaments, including most recently at the 2013 World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia, where he won a silver medal.

Predators sign Gortz -- Right wing Max Gortz, a 2012 sixth-round pick (No. 172) of the Nashville Predators, signed a three-year entry-level contract Monday. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Gortz, 21, started the 2013-14 season with Farjestad (SHL), before transferring to Frolunda (SHL) on Dec. 9. The Hoor, Sweden native led Frolunda, and tied for third among all skaters in the 2014 SHL Quarterfinals, with three goals and five points

Gortz has 37 goals and 70 points in 106 career Swedish junior league games with Malmo and Farjestad, and 19 goals and 30 points in 108 SHL games with Farjestad and Frolunda. He also has three goals and seven points in 18 career SHL postseason contests, and eight goals and 14 points in 15 career Swedish junior league playoff games.

Gortz helped Sweden win the 2012 Under-20 Four-Nations Tournament, tying for the team lead with three points (one goal), and earned a bronze medal at the 2010 Under-17 World Hockey Challenge.
