The home stretch: Los Angeles Kings return for 2nd chance to finish off champion Blackhawks

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - The Los Angeles Kings spent much of the past month avoiding playoff elimination, so they can appreciate the Chicago Blackhawks' resilience.

After missing their first chance to finish off the Blackhawks in a double-overtime, the Kings are back to take another shot in Game 6 of the Western Conference finals on Friday night.

Defenceman Drew Doughty says the Kings can't let the series go to a Game 7, so they're determined to prevent the Blackhawks from having another good start. Los Angeles also will endeavour to shut down Chicago's surprisingly effective line pairing Brandon Saad and Patrick Kane.

Before heading out to their second straight elimination game, the Blackhawks continue to insist all the pressure is on the Kings.

But Chicago is just 2-6 on the road in the post-season.

Quote of the Day

For our team, as a group, we've never been this far before, and so it's just more lessons learned, and sometimes you have to go to the school of hard knocks to find out what works and what doesn't. We've got a young group. They've played some unreal hockey here to get us this far, and we showed if we're not going to play the proper way, a really, really good hockey team is going to beat you, and that's what they did. It's a lesson learned.
