He spent this season with the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League, scoring four goals and 16 points with 95 penalty minutes in 71 regular-season games. He added two goals, five points and 16 penalty minutes in 21 playoff games, helping Portland advance to the WHL Championship.

The Helsingborg, Sweden native has represented his country on multiple occasions, including the IIHF World Junior U18 Tournament (2011-12 and 2012-13) and U17 Tournament (2010-11 and 2011-12).

Quote of the Day

He's only 17 but he can see the ice so well and he moves the puck and goes to the open ice all the time, so I just think he's a player that is ready to play in the NHL. I'm really looking forward to coaching someone like this.

— U.S. National Junior Team coach Ron Wilson on Auston Matthews, the projected No. 1 pick of the 2016 NHL Draft
