Bruins' power play finally clicks, leaving Canadiens on playoff precipice

BOSTON - The Boston power play finally clicked against Montreal on Saturday night and the Bruins defeated the Canadiens 4-2 to move one win away from advancing to the Eastern Conference final.

Reilly Smith and Jarome Iginla scored 32 seconds apart early in the second period to put Boston ahead 3-0 as Tomas Plekanec sat in the penalty box for both goals.

Boston was 0-for-10 in the series on the power play and had not scored in 39 tries with the man advantage against Montreal in the post-season since Game 2 of their 2009 Conference quarter-final.

Carl Soderberg scored a goal and assisted on two more, and Loui Eriksson had a goal and an assist apiece for Boston.

Brendan Gallagher and P.K. Subban scored for the Canadiens, with both goals coming on the power play.

Game 6 of the second-round playoff series is Monday in Montreal. Game 7, if needed, will be next Wednesday in Boston.
