Blackhawks forward Shaw left Game 1 with injury
Chicago Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw left Game 1 of the Western Conference Second Round in the first period.

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks lost forward Andrew Shaw to a lower-body injury Friday in the first period of Game 1 of the Western Conference Second Round against the Minnesota Wild.

Following Chicago's 5-2 victory, coach Joel Quenneville said Shaw would be reassessed Saturday.

Shaw, who's been playing right wing on the third line, took a hard hit in the offensive zone at 10:39 of the first from Wild defenseman Clayton Stoner. Shaw left the bench area, headed to the locker room and didn't return to the game.

"[Shaw's] a guy that plays hard and goes in hard on the forecheck," Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford said. "He’s a pest in front of their net. He gets in front of the goalie.

"Even though he’s a small guy (5-foot-10, 180 pounds), it seems like he’s able to take a lot of goalies’ vision away. He’s a key player for us. I don’t know what he’s like right now."

Game 2 is Sunday at United Center (3 p.m. ET; NBC, RDS, TSN).
