Devils defenseman Fayne has surgery on groin
New Jersey Devils defenseman Mark Fayne, who can become an unrestricted free agent July 1, had surgery on his left groin Tuesday.

New Jersey Devils defenseman Mark Fayne had successful surgery Tuesday on the "core muscle of his left groin," president and general manager Lou Lamoriello said.

Fayne will need a rehabilitation period of eight to 10 weeks.

"Just a normal groin situation," Lamoriello told The Star-Ledger. "The eight-to-10 weeks is total rehab."

The 26-year-old had four goals and 11 points in 72 games this season. He completed a two-year, $2.6 million contract and can become an unrestricted free agent July 1.
