Washington receives Nashville’s seventh-round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.

Rissling, 20, completed his fifth season with the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League, with 37 points (eight goals) and 105 penalty minutes in 54 games while serving as captain.

In 273 WHL games from 2009-14, the 6-4, 204-pound native of Edmonton has 117 points and 465 penalty minutes. The Hitmen won the WHL championship and participate in the Memorial Cup in 2010.

He was a seventh-round pick (No. 197) by Washington in the 2012 draft.

Quote of the Day

He's only 17 but he can see the ice so well and he moves the puck and goes to the open ice all the time, so I just think he's a player that is ready to play in the NHL. I'm really looking forward to coaching someone like this.

— U.S. National Junior Team coach Ron Wilson on Auston Matthews, the projected No. 1 pick of the 2016 NHL Draft
