NHL fines Boston's Lucic $5,000 for spearing incident in playoff game

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The NHL fined Boston forward Milan Lucic US$5,000 on Saturday for a spearing incident in the Bruins' opening playoff game.

Lucic was fined for spearing Detroit defenceman Danny DeKeyser in the second period of the Red Wings' 1-0 victory Friday night.

No penalty was called on the play.

The fine money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Quote of the Day

There's no discouragement in that room. There's no issues there at all to be honest with you. It's more about, 'Hey, it's opportunities for players.' And if we become that bad of a team because of one player, it's not a real good sign for our hockey club. So this is part of sports. It's part of hockey.
