ANAHEIM -- Captain Ryan Getzlaf left Game 1 of the Anaheim Ducks' Western Conference First Round series against the Dallas Stars on Wednesday when he took a puck to the face with 16 seconds left in regulation.
His status was not immediately known, but coach Bruce Boudreau said after Anaheim's 4-3 victory that he doesn't think it is serious.
"I think he's going to be OK, but he's probably going to have a little nasty cut on the side of his mouth," Boudreau said. "As far as I know, nothing else is there. But I'll know more tomorrow."
Getzlaf was struck on the side of the face by Tyler Seguin's shot as Dallas pressed for the tying goal. The game was stopped immediately and Getzlaf left the ice. He was seen in the dressing room holding an ice pack to his face.
"Obviously it's not a good situation," linemate Corey Perry said. "Hopefully he's all right. We'll see what happens."
Getzlaf has a previous history of facial injury. He sustained nasal sinus fractures in a 2010 game against the Phoenix Coyotes.
