Sorkin scores winner as Hamilton Bulldogs edge Lake Erie Monsters 2-1

CLEVELAND - Nick Sorkin's first-career goal stood up as the winner as the Hamilton Bulldogs edged the host Lake Erie Monsters 2-1 on Tuesday in American Hockey League play.

Sorkin broke a 1-1 deadlock at 2:34 of the third period when he tipped a Sven Andrighetto wrist shot past Lake Erie goaltender Calvin Pickard.

Joonas Nattinen opened the scoring for the Bulldogs (33-34-8) at 10:18 of the second period.

Andrew Agozzino replied for the Monsters (30-33-11) at 13:30 of the second while on the power play.

Hamilton's Robert Mayer made 30 saves for the win as Pickard turned away 34-of-36 shots in a losing cause.

The Bulldogs went 0 for 2 on the power play while the Monsters went 1 for 2.
