Zibanejad did not play after ending his second shift of the third period at 4:51.
"I have no idea what it's all about, but it was for purely precautionary reasons that we couldn't do stuff here that they could do there," Senators coach Paul MacLean said.
Zibanejad was present Friday for the team picture, according to media reports. He will have further tests, Ottawa Sun writer Bruce Garrioch reported, and is being held out of the lineup as a precaution.
Ottawa won 2-1 in a shootout. Zibanejad assisted on a second-period goal by Mike Hoffman.
