Sylvan Lake wins Kraft Hockeyville competition
Sylvan Lake, Alberta, has been named Kraft Hockeyville 2014.

The town of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, is Kraft Hockeyville 2014, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman announced Saturday night.

Bettman made the announcement live during CBC's Hockey Night in Canada broadcast. Nearly 16 million votes were cast after 532 communities battled for the award.

Sylvan Lake's Medican Multiplex will host an NHL preseason game and receive $100,000 in arena upgrades and a visit from CBC.

The Eastern Canada community finalist, Kingston, Nova Scotia, will also receive $100,000 for arena upgrades to Credit Union Centre.
