Benn has 2 goals, assist to lead Stars in 5-2 win over Lightning

TAMPA, Fla. - Jamie Benn had two goals and an assist to leading the Stars in a 5-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night.

Tyler Seguin had his team-leading 35th goal, and Vernon Fiddler and Antoine Roussel also scored for Dallas. Kari Lehtonen stopped 27 shots.

Steven Stamkos and Andrej Sustr scored for Tampa Bay, aand Ben Bishop finished with 23 saves.

Benn produced all of his points in the first period. The left winger opened the scoring 40 seconds in, redirecting a shot by Alex Goligoski from along the right boards into the left side of the net. He struck again at the 5:37 mark, snapping a shot past Bishop from the right circle.

Seguin's score late in the period made it 3-0.

After the Lightning pulled within 3-2 in the second, Fiddler and Roussel sealed the win in the third period.

Quote of the Day

I had one really not-good game. I came back to the hotel and he [his father] was on Skype. My mother called first and said, 'Your father wants to talk to you.' So he moved my mother away, and he yelled at me for like 30 seconds. I understood him, and then he said, 'I'm done.' And he was gone. The next game I got my first shutout.
