Ducks sign 2012 pick Kerdiles to three-year contract
The Anaheim Ducks on Saturday signed left wing Nicolas Kerdiles, who had been playing at the University of Wisconsin, to a three-year contract.

The Anaheim Ducks on Saturday signed left wing Nicolas Kerdiles to a three-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed by the Ducks, but Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reported it's a two-way contract worth $832,500 at the NHL level and $70,000 at the American Hockey League level per season.

Kerdiles, 20, became the first Ducks pick who was raised in Orange County when he was selected in the second round (No. 36) of the 2012 NHL Draft. Born in Lewisville, Texas, he was raised in Irvine, Calif.

In two seasons at the University of Wisconsin, Kerdiles had 26 goals and 71 points. He ranked fifth in the nation this past season with 1.36 points per game, as well as third in the Big Ten with 15 goals and second with 23 assists. Kerdiles had three points, including an assist on the overtime goal, as Wisconsin beat Ohio State to win the Big Ten title.

Kerdiles, a member of U.S. National Under-18 and Under-17 teams prior to Wisconsin, won gold with Team USA at both the 2011 and 2012 IIHF U-18 World Championships.
