TORONTO -- Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Jonathan Bernier left the game Thursday against the Boston Bruins midway through the third period with a lower-body injury.

He will have an MRI on Friday, coach Randy Carlyle said.

After colliding with Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron at 8:22 of the period, Bernier dropped to the ice on his knees hunched over and needed help from a trainer to leave, favoring his left leg. James Reimer came into the game.

Bernier made 25 saves in his fifth game since returning from a strained groin sustained March 13 against the Los Angeles Kings.

Toronto led 3-2 at the time and won 4-3 in overtime.
