Defenseman Madison Bowey signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Washington Capitals on Wednesday. The contract begins with the 2014-15 season.
Bowey, 18, was chosen by the Capitals in the second round (No. 53) of the 2013 NHL Draft and spent the past three seasons with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League. Bowey had 21 goals and 60 points in 72 games this season while serving as captain. He has three points in five WHL playoff games.
The Winnipeg native won gold for Canada at the 2013 IIHF World Under-18 Championship, with four points and leading all skaters in average ice-time (21:03).
