Carey of St. Lawrence, St. Cloud State's Dowd, Gaudreau of BC named Hobey Baker finalists

ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Lawrence senior forward Greg Carey, St. Cloud State senior forward Nic Dowd and Boston College junior forward Johnny Gaudreau have been chosen as finalists for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award given to the top player in college hockey.

The announcement came Wednesday. The winner will be revealed April 11 in Philadelphia, the site of this year's NCAA Frozen Four.

Gaudreau has guided Boston College to the national semifinals for the second time in three years. His 77 points in 39 games are the most of any Division I player in 11 seasons.

Dowd had 22 goals in 38 games for St. Cloud State, including the overtime winner in the West Regional semifinals.

Carey had 39 assists in 38 games for St. Lawrence, the second-most in the nation.

Quote of the Day

He is, in my opinion, one of the best defensemen in the NHL and continuing to grow. I think his game, from an offensive standpoint, he continues to drive our offense... I think there's still tremendous upside for Oliver.
