Paulina Gretzky poses for golf magazine cover in skimpy workout outfit

Don't expect to see Paulina Gretzky's non-regulation golf attire at your local club any time soon.

The daughter of NHL Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky is wearing a skimpy outfit more suited to a gym than the green on the latest cover of Golf Digest magazine.

Clad in a white sports bra and white calf-length workout tights, Gretzky is shown leaning on a golf club.

In a post titled "What's Paulina Gretzky doing on the cover of Golf Digest?" the magazine's web editor points out that Gretzky is engaged to pro golfer Dustin Johnson.

Sam Weinman says she is also a "certified celebrity within the golf world, as much a subject of fascination at tournaments as the guy she's there watching. Now factor in that she's an attractive, fit woman who — like many of our prospective readers — is fairly new to golf, and she seemed a natural cover subject for our second annual issue devoted to fitness."

The magazine cover, which was unveiled Thursday, quickly prompted reaction on social media.

One Twitter user called it the "Golf Digest Swimsuit Issue" while another criticized Golf Digest for an "overt attempt to push mags."

Gretzky is known for posting provocative photos on her Twitter and Instagram accounts and posed in a white bikini on the cover of Maxim last year.

She told Maxim that she posts the photos because she feels "social media is supposed to be for fun, to share what you’re doing when you’re enjoying life."
