Crosby reaches 100 points with assist vs. Hurricanes
The Pittsburgh Penguins' Sidney Crosby became the first player in the NHL to reach 100 points this season when he earned an assist on Chris Kunitz's first-period goal Tuesday.

Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins reached 100 points for the fifth time in his NHL career with a first-period assist against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night.

Crosby became the first player in the League this season to reach 100 points when he earned an assist on a goal by Chris Kunitz at 9:01 of the opening period. It was his 64th assist to go along with 36 goals.

Crosby reached the 100-point mark in four of his first five NHL seasons, including a League-high 120 points in 2006-07. But he had not scored more than 66 points in any of the past three seasons, mostly due to injuries that limited him to 41 games in 2010-11 and 22 games the following season. He was leading the League with 56 points in 36 games last season but missed the remainder of the 48-game season with a broken jaw.
