The New York Rangers on Monday agreed to terms with University of Vermont forward Chris McCarthy, 22. Details of the contract were not released.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder had 18 goals and 24 assists in 38 games this season. He lead the team in assists and points (42). He also had 12 multipoint games.
In five seasons at Vermont, McCarthy had 46 goals and 114 points. A native of Collegeville, Pa., McCarthy played for the United States National Team Development Program in 2008-09, prior to attending college.
