Tyson Strachan scores in shootout to lift Hershey past St. John's 2-1

HERSHEY, Pa. - Tyson Strachan scored in the 12th round of the shootout as the Hershey Bears beat the St. John's IceCaps 2-1 in American Hockey League action Saturday.

Jeff Taffe had Hershey's lone goal in regulation 1:25 into the second period.

The IceCaps answered back five minutes later on a goal by Kyle MacKinnon.

A scoreless third period set up the shootout, with Ryan Stoa and Dane Byers scoring for Hershey (34-25-8) before Strachan's eventual winner.

Jerome Samson and Carl Klingberg had shootout goals for the IceCaps (41-22-5).

David Leggio finished with 32 saves for the Bears, while Tyler Beskorowany made 26 saves at the other end of the ice.
