Johnny Gaudreau has 3 goals, 3 assists to help Boston College beat Denver 6-2

Johnny Gaudreau had his first hat trick for Boston College and added three assists, leading the top-seeded Eagles to a 6-2 victory over Denver on Saturday in the NCAA Northeast Regional semifinals.

Boston College (27-7-4) will face the winner of the second semifinal between No. 2 UMass-Lowell and No. 3 Minnesota State-Mankato on Sunday for a spot in the Frozen Four.

Gaudreau, who had a 31-game points streak snapped by Notre Dame two weeks ago in the Hockey East tournament, tied the regionals scoring record and came up one shy of matching the NCAA tournament record for points in a game. He scored 25 seconds into the game as BC built a 6-0 second-period lead.

Linemate Kevin Hayes had two goals and two assists, and Bill Arnold, the centre on the top line, had a goal and two assists.

Denver finished 20-16-6.

Quote of the Day

I first met him when I was 19 years old and he coached me for 13 consecutive years. I don't know how many athletes who have had that pleasure. Al Arbour was a man that left us not only feeling like champions, but left us with a lot of great memories that we can carry on through life.
