Panthers' Luongo leaves game with injury
Goalie Roberto Luongo left the Florida Panthers' game against the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night after the first period and is not expected to return.

SUNRISE, Fla. -- Goalie Roberto Luongo left the Florida Panthers' game against the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night after the first period with an upper-body injury and did not to return.

Luongo was knocked down and shaken up after Carolina forward Radek Dvorak crashed into him with 7:12 left in the opening period. Luongo finished out the period but was not on the bench for the start of the second. He was replaced by Dan Ellis. The Pannthers said Luongo was removed as a precautionary measure.

Luongo gave up one goal on 12 shots in the first period. He faced one shot after getting hit by Dvorak, who was assessed a five-minute major for charging along with a game misconduct.

The Hurricanes won the game 3-0.
