Panthers overcome two-goal deficit, slip past Senators 3-2 in shootout

SUNRISE, Fla. - Vincent Trocheck and Brandon Pirri scored in a shootout to lift the Florida Panthers past the Ottawa Senators 3-2 on Tuesday night.

Trocheck also scored in regulation and Sean Bergenheim scored a goal for the Panthers. Roberto Luongo made 37 saves.

Clarke MacArthur and Mark Stone scored for the Senators and Robin Lehner stopped 39 shots.

Kyle Turris scored in the shootout for Ottawa, but Luongo turned aside attempts by Jason Spezza and Milan Michalek.

The Panthers snapped a three-game losing streak. The Senators have lost nine of 10.

Quote of the Day

I downplayed the first one because I thought it's just a hockey game. We just want to win the game; it's against our rival and we want the two points. I downplayed it, but now having gone through the first one I look back and say, 'Geez, that was really cool.' I think as I've grown a bit older I've got a lot more appreciation for what we're allowed to do every day.
