VANCOUVER -- Vancouver Canucks captain and top-line center Henrik Sedin won't be on a two-game road trip that starts against the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday and is listed as day-to-day after sustaining a left knee injury Sunday, coach John Tortorella said Tuesday.
Sedin, who leads the Canucks with 46 points in 65 games, was injured after making a hit behind the net late in the second period of a 4-2 win against the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday. Sabres forward Tyler Ennis bounced off the boards and fell into Sedin's left knee. Sedin didn't put much weight on his leg as he went to the locker room.
It will be the second time Sedin misses games this season. He had his streak of consecutive games played ended at 679 (a streak that dated to March 21, 2004) when he missed eight games in January and February with a rib injury.
Vancouver got top-line right wing Daniel Sedin and second-line center Ryan Kesler back from injury against the Sabres on Sunday. But Alexandre Burrows, who plays left wing on the top line with the Sedins and scored his first five goals of the season in his past five games, is day-to-day with a left hand injury sustained last Wednesday.
"It can't be deflating," Tortorella said. "We've been going through this all year long. You get a couple back, another goes out. It's been most of our top guys, but it can't be deflating this time of year. We need to stay upbeat."
