Sam Reinhart, C, Kootenay (WHL)

Another shrewd move by general manager Tim Murray as they add another character player.

  2. EDM

Aaron Ekblad, D, Barrie (OHL)

There are needs on the blue line.

  3. FLA

Samuel Bennett, C, Kingston (OHL)

A very good complementary player for Aleksander Barkov; he's also a Doug Gilmour clone.

  4. NYI

Michael Dal Colle, C/LW, Oshawa (OHL)

He knows how to finish and will be a good fit with John Tavares, who is an Oshawa alum.

  5. CGY

Jake Virtanen, RW, Calgary (WHL)

He plays a Brian Burke style of game and can move his hockey gear right down the hallway.

  6. NSH

Leon Draisaitl, C, Prince Albert (WHL)

Building up front along with the acquisition of Calle Jarnkrok from the Detroit Red Wings.

  7. CAR

Haydn Fleury, D, Red Deer (WHL)

He is the best of the defense corps remaining in the draft; has good size (6-foot-2.5, 203) and skill.

William Nylander, C/RW, Modo (SWE)

Will be the next Teemu Selanne in Anaheim.

  9. WPG

Robert Fabbri, C, Guelph (OHL)

Jets add more forward depth; undersized (5-10.25, 170) but highly skilled, and his compete level is off the charts.

10. VAN

Alex Tuch, C/RW, USA U-18 (USHL)

Fits the Canucks mold; a big, strong power forward to maybe replace Ryan Kesler.

11. DET

Kasperi Kapanen, RW, Kalpa (FIN)

He'll help replace Jarnkrok within their system, and then some

12. DAL

Nikolaj Ehlers, LW, Halifax (QMJHL)

Dallas GM Jim Nill loves skill, and this guy will more than fill the need.

13. WSH

Ivan Barbashev, C/LW, Moncton (QMJHL)

A Russian with North American flair; he'll be a good fit for Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov.

14. CBJ

Jared McCann, C, Sault St. Marie (OHL)

Another highly skilled forward for the Blue Jackets to build upon.

15. PHX

Sonny Milano, LW, USA U-18 (USHL)

Great, skilled player to add to their young talent base.

16. NYR

Brendan Perlini, LW, Niagara (OHL)

He is a much-improved, highly skilled player with speed to burn.

17. PHI

Nicholas Ritchie, LW, Peterborough (OHL)

A big (6-2.25, 226) strong power forward that fits in the Flyers' mold of old.

18. TOR

Roland McKeown, D, Kingston (OHL)

Adding some depth to their defensive corps with a steady player on the back end.

19. TBL

Nikolay Goldobin, RW, Sarnia (OHL)

GM Steve Yzerman will like an Igor Larionov-style of player once again.

20. MIN

David Pastrnak, RW, Sodertalje (SWE-2)

Wild add some more skill to their young forward pool of prospects.

21. LAK

Nikita Scherbak, RW, Saskatoon (WHL)

Good-sized (6-1, 175) forward that has come leaps and bounds since last season; fits the Kings mold.

22. MTL

Joshua Ho-Sang, C/RW, Windsor (OHL)

Another undersized (5-11, 175), highly competitive player with a really good skill set.

23. CHI

Anton Karlsson, RW, Frolunda Jr. (SWE-JR)

An honest, hard-working player with skills to complement all their other young prospects.

24. COL

Brendan Lemieux, LW, Barrie (OHL)

Avalanche coach Patrick Roy will want to add the clone to his ex-teammate, Claude Lemieux.

25. PIT

Kevin Fiala, LW, HV 71 Jr. (SWE-JR)

Highly skilled player for the Penguins to add to their prospect pool.

26. SJS

Alexis Vanier, D, Baie-Comeau (QMJHL)

Fits the Sharks mold; excellent size (6-4.5, 215) and overall skill to develop nicely.

27. ANA

Nick Schmaltz, C, Green Bay (USHL)

A highly skilled player that needs time to develop in college; he fits Ducks mold.

28. BOS

Thatcher Demko, G, Boston College (H-EAST)

Hard to pass on him here; will add to their goaltending depth with this guy in a big way.

29. STL

Ryan MacInnis, C, Kitchener Rangers (OHL)

No-brainer for the Blues. Just needs time to develop, and no better spot to do it than with family.

30. NJD

Dylan Larkin, C, USA U-18 (USHL)

Good, solid player with high-end skill; will get the time he needs to develop in college.
