Daily Primer March 24: Flyers, Rangers in key games
The divisions that make up the Eastern Conference could each have a new second-place team by Tuesday morning after key games Monday night.

The divisions that make up the Eastern Conference could each have a new second-place team by Tuesday morning after key games Monday night.

Or they could be the same.

The Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers, second and third in the Metropolitan Division, and the Tampa Bay Lightning and Montreal Canadiens, Nos. 2 and 3 in the Atlantic Division, are all in action in separate games.

The Flyers lead the Rangers by one point (83-82), but Philadelphia has two games in hand. The Flyers play at home against the Los Angeles Kings, and the Rangers host the Phoenix Coyotes. The Coyotes trail the Kings by seven points for third place in the Pacific Division.

The Lightning lead the Canadiens by one point (86-85) with Tampa Bay holding a game in hand. The Lightning host the fading Ottawa Senators, and the Canadiens visit the Boston Bruins, who lead the Atlantic, have clinched a playoff berth, and returned from a western road trip with a 12-game winning streak intact.

Montreal has won two of three against Boston this season, but faces an opponent that is two wins shy of the Bruins' record 14-game win streak set in the 1929-30 season.

Two teams outside the wild card in the Western Conference meet when the Winnipeg Jets play at the Dallas Stars. Dallas is two points behind Phoenix for the second Western wild card; Winnipeg is four behind Dallas.

The San Jose Sharks look to extend their lead in the Pacific Division when they visit the Calgary Flames.

Here is the list of the action Monday:

Phoenix Coyotes at New York Rangers (7 p.m. ET; FS-A PLUS, MSG)

Los Angeles Kings at Philadelphia Flyers (7 p.m. ET; FS-W, CSN-PH)

Montreal Canadiens at Boston Bruins (7:30 p.m. ET; NBCSN, RDS, TSN)

Winnipeg Jets at Dallas Stars (8:30 p.m. ET; TSN-JETS, FS-SW)
