Stars signal Lehtonen could be returning
With the Dalls Stars returning goaltender Cristopher NIlstorp to the AHL, could goalie Kari Lehtonen be ready to rejoin the lineup?

The Dallas Stars on Monday sent goaltender Cristopher Nilstorp to the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League, a sign that goaltender Kari Lehtonen could be ready to return to the lineup.

Lehtonen has been out since March 8, when he sustained a concussion after a collision with Minnesota Wild forward Erik Haula.

Tim Thomas started the Stars' past three games, with Nilstorp serving as his backup. The Stars are 1-1-1 without Lehtonen.

Nilstorp played in one game, replacing Thomas 29 seconds into the second period of the Stars' 7-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday. He allowed three goals on 17 shots in his two periods of action.

Lehtonen is 25-16-10 with a 2.47 goals-against average and .917 save percentage in 53 games, but had won four of his five starts prior to his injury.

The Stars next play Tuesday at the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Quote of the Day

For our team, as a group, we've never been this far before, and so it's just more lessons learned, and sometimes you have to go to the school of hard knocks to find out what works and what doesn't. We've got a young group. They've played some unreal hockey here to get us this far, and we showed if we're not going to play the proper way, a really, really good hockey team is going to beat you, and that's what they did. It's a lesson learned.
