The Vancouver Canucks signed free-agent forward Mike Zalewski to a two-year contract on Friday. No financial terms were disclosed.
Zalewski, 21, scored nine goals and had 26 points in 35 games with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute this season, finishing fourth on the team in scoring. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound native of New Hartford, N.Y., had 21 goals, 47 points and 75 penalty minutes in two seasons with the Engineers.
Before coming to RPI, Zalewski spent two seasons with the Vernon Vipers of the British Columbia Hockey League. He led the team in scoring in 2011-12 with 75 points, including 38 goals, in 60 games.
