Blackhawks F Marian Hossa close to returning from upper-body injury

CHICAGO - Injured forward Marian Hossa could return to the Blackhawks' lineup next week.

Hossa participated in Chicago's morning skate before Friday night's game against the Nashville Predators. He has been out since March 1 with an upper-body injury.

The 35-year-old Hossa says he's feeling better and he's hoping to play either Sunday at home against Detroit or Tuesday at Philadelphia. He has 24 goals and 26 assists in 57 games this season.

Coach Joel Quenneville says Hossa looked good at practice and is "real close" to returning.

Hossa was slowed by a back injury during the Stanley Cup finals last year against Boston, but he says this injury is unrelated to that one.

Quote of the Day

I'm hoping Bob [Murray] didn't go out and get Dany Heatley just to get someone. I'm sure he's excited and motivated.
