The New York Islanders on Tuesday signed defenseman Kevin Czuczman to a two-year, entry-level contract. He will report directly to the Islanders.
Czuczman, 23, had career highs in goals (10) and points (21) in 36 games as a junior at Lake Superior State University, and his 10 goals led Western Collegiate Hockey Association defensemen.
In 114 games with the Lakers, Czuczman had 14 goals and 31 assists for 45 points. He was named Lake Superior State's most valuable defenseman in 2012-13 and its Outstanding Freshman in 2011-12.
Prior to his collegiate career, Czuczman played with the Newmarket Hurricanes of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, where he scored four goals with 19 assists in 47 games.
