J. Staal, Tlusty have goal and assist each in Hurricanes' 3-1 win over Rangers

RALEIGH, N.C. - Jordan Staal and Jiri Tlusty both had a goal and an assist, and the Carolina Hurricanes snapped a 10-game losing streak against the New York Rangers with a 3-1 win on Tuesday night.

Elias Lindholm added an insurance goal for Carolina late in the third period. Cam Ward made 24 saves for his first win since Dec. 31.

Kevin Klein had the Rangers' goal, scoring for the first time since being acquired from Nashville on Jan. 22. Henrik Lundqvist stopped 32 shots.

Coming into the game, the Rangers had outscored the Hurricanes 40-19 in the teams' last 10 meetings, including a 4-2 road victory on Friday. Carolina also snapped New York's six-game winning streak in Raleigh.

The Rangers, 8-4-1 in their past 13 games, remained one point ahead of Philadelphia for second place in the Metropolitan Division.

Quote of the Day

I don't have a crystal ball. Predicting is a real complicated thing. If we stay healthy, have enough depth and get the good goaltending we think we're going to have, you can go all the way. But a lot of things have to happen. There's going to be a lot of teams that think the same thing. Everyone made deals. We're all are optimistic about where we'll end up.
