Stars' C Peverley taken to hospital after collapsing on bench during game vs. Blue Jackets

DALLAS - The game between Dallas and the Columbus Blue Jackets is being delayed in the first period after Stars forward Rich Peverley collapsed on the bench.

Play was halted 6:23 into the game Monday night as Peverley was carried from the bench. A public address announcement was made several minutes later that the 31-year-old Peverley was conscious and taken to the hospital.

The NHL was discussing whether the game would resume Monday.

Peverley missed the start of the season because of a procedure to correct an irregular heartbeat, a condition diagnosed during a training camp physical.

Quote of the Day

This team has been a real treat to say you've been the head coach of them. I'm extremely proud of this group ... after the disappointment of (the Game 6 loss) is digested, it's always a lot easier as a coach when your team has emptied its tank, and that team emptied its tank for me for three months.
