NEW YORK – Los Angeles Kings forward Jordan Nolan has been suspended for one game, without pay, for punching an unsuspecting opponent, Edmonton Oilers forward Jesse Joensuu, during NHL Game No. 967 in Edmonton on Sunday, March 9, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.
The incident occurred at 19:56 of the second period. Nolan was assessed a double-minor penalty for roughing.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Nolan will forfeit $3,589.74. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
