HALIFAX - Andrew Ryan scored two goals and assisted on another to lead the Halifax Mooseheads to their ninth straight victory, 7-4 over the Charlottetown Islanders in Quebec Major Junior Hockey action on Thursday.
Darcy Ashley scored twice, Nikolaj Ehlers had a goal and two assists and Philippe Gadoury also scored for the Maritime Division-leading Mooseheads (42-18-3), who outshot the Islanders 38-25. Brent Andrews chipped in with three assists.
Daniel Sprong scored a goal and added two assists, Spenser Cobbold and Alexandre Goulet had a goal and one assist apiece, and Anthony Cortese also scored for Charlottetown (20-36-7), who have dropped seven of their last 10 games.
Mooseheads goaltender Zachary Fucale stopped 21 shots for the victory, while Eric Brassard made 31 saves in the losing effort.
Charlottetown racked up 56 penalty minutes on 27 infractions, and Guillaume Rioux-Legault got a game misconduct in the third period for fighting in the final five minutes of regulation time. Halifax had 20 penalties totalling 41 minutes.
