Murphy has produced 17 assists and 18 points in 16 games with the Checkers since being assigned to the team on Jan. 24. In 39 NHL games with the Hurricanes this season, he has two goals and 11 points. Murphy was selected by the Hurricanes in the first round (No. 12) of the 2011 NHL Draft.
