Vancouver Canucks forward Daniel Sedin is out indefinitely with a lower-body injury he sustained Sunday in the 2014 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic.

General manager Mike Gillis said Tuesday he did not know when Sedin would be able to return. Gillis was speaking while also addressing the Canucks' trade of Roberto Luongo to the Florida Panthers for forward Shawn Matthias and goaltender Jacob Markstrom.

Sedin was injured in the second period against the Ottawa Senators when he was hit into the boards behind the Senators net by defenseman defenseman Mark Methot. At the time, Sedin grabbed for the back of his left leg. He left the game and did not return.

Sedin has 13 goals and 27 assists in 63 games this season. He has not scored fewer than 18 goals in a full season since 2003-04, his fourth in the NHL.
